Hello My Name Is...
Jennifer Diamond
4th Grade
I have a passion for working with children and could not imagine myself in any other profession. In fact, I have spent the last 20 plus years surrounded by children in one capacity or another. My teaching experience started as a teacher’s aide in a preschool and progressed over the years to the Director of a large child care center in Crested Butte. I have also had the privilege to volunteer, tutor, and teach second grade for several years in the Montrose County School District. A job transfer brought my spouse and I back to Gunnison, which opened the door for us to start a family. Despite putting my career on hold, I was extremely fortunate to stay at home with our two young daughters for many years. Transitioning back into the workforce, I volunteered at the Gunnison schools, often in my daughter’s classroom, but I also spent several hours a week in the kindergarten, first, and fifth grades. In 2014, I taught our districts’ youngest students at Lake School spending the year with three year old preschoolers in the mornings. In the afternoons, I would venture over to the elementary school and work with special education students. I then spent the next year working with first, second, and third grade gifted and talented students at GES. In 2016, after several years of building personal relationships with staff and students in our district, I had the great fortune to join the fourth grade team. I am enthusiastic about the school’s curriculum and feel confident that I can provide fourth graders with an engaging learning environment year after year. I also plan to bring high energy, creativity, respect, and a positive attitude to my home away from home- my classroom. My door is always open, so please stop in and visit anytime.
